The Erasmus+ programme supports activities related to education, training, youth and sports in all sectors of lifelong learning, including Higher Education, Professional Training, Adult Education, School Education, Activities for young people and training within amateur Sports.

It was created on the basis of the Erasmus initiative, known for the opportunities it provides to university students and higher education teaching staff, in terms of mobility for purposes of learning, traineeship or training.

Types of mobility

Studies

Interested students should inform themselves at the sending university regarding the existence of a bilateral agreement between both Higher Education institutions that will allow their mobility. After confirming the existence of this bilateral agreement, they should apply for the Erasmus+ programme at the sending university.

Stage 1 – Required information

After selection of the applicants, the office in charge of the Erasmus+ programme at the sending university should make an official communication to the Mobility Office of the IE-ULisboa (mobilidade@ie.ulisboa.pt) with the following information regarding the institution and each applicant it intends to send:

  • Erasmus+ Code of the sending university (e.g., P LISBOA 109)
  • Study area / ISCED code of the Bilateral Agreement
  • Full name
  • Gender
  • E-mail
  • Study period (School year / 1st semester / 2nd semester)
  • Study level (Bachelor’s degree / Master’s / PhD)
Deadlines for the appointment of selected students

School year: 30 May
1st semester : 30 May
2nd semester : 30 November

Stage 2 – Declaration of acceptance

After the official appointment by the sending university, the Mobility Office will send a Declaration of Acceptance to each applicant, who will be subsequently contacted by e-mail.

The message will describe all the steps and indicate the deadlines to obtain the Erasmus+ application for the IE-ULisboa. This e-mail will also include some information regarding accommodation, courses of Portuguese as a Foreign Language (PLE) and other aspects considered to be useful for applicants.

Stage 3 – Indications for the selected applicants

For their application to be effective, all applicants must submit the following documents:

  1. Incoming Student Form, which includes personal data and information about the sending university, as well as the study area and study period intended;
  2. Learning Agreement for Studies, completed according to the study plans in force during the study period at the IE-ULisboa, signed and stamped by the sending university;
  3. Valid Identification Card or Passport during the mobility period in Portugal;
  4. European Health Insurance Card or proof of the request of the European Health Insurance Card or private health insurance policy;
  5. Additional documents that the applicant and the sending university consider relevant.

School year: 15 July
1st semester: 15 July
2nd semester: 30 November

Traineeships

Accepted traineeships should be formalised by the trainee, by the responsible teacher at the sending university and by the responsible teacher at the IE-ULisboa. The Learning Agreement for Traineeships should be completed and signed.
At the end of the traineeship period, the responsible teacher at the IE-ULisboa should confirm the work carried out by filling in and signing the following documents:

  • Learning Agreement for Traineeships – After the Mobility
  • Confirmation of Stay (form of the trainee’s sending university)
