This seminar offers an introduction to the concept of Extended Reality (XR) and its potential applications in education. The full XR spectrum will be explored (from real environments enhanced with Augmented Reality, through Mixed Reality, to fully immersive Virtual Reality). A brief overview of recent research in the field will be provided, along with specific examples from projects developed by the CEVI research group, which investigate the effective integration of XR technologies into teaching and learning contexts, as well as their educational impact.

Águeda Gómez Cambronero ♦ Institute of New Imaging Technologies – Universitat Jaume I
Águeda Gómez Cambronero holds a PhD in Computer Science, with a degree in Video Game Design and Development, and a master’s in Intelligent Systems from the Universitat Jaume I of Castellón. Águeda has been working on various projects with the Geospatial Technologies Research Group (GEOTEC).
Her research focuses on Serious Games and the application of interactive environments in fields such as education and mental health. During her doctoral thesis, she developed Horizon: Resilience, a mobile video game designed to treat mild to moderate depression. The game integrates scientifically validated psychological techniques and promotes physical activity by utilizing the smartphone’s sensors, seamlessly incorporating them into the gameplay mechanics.
